Andrei Tarkovsky

In an interview with Gaspard Ulliel (for the Ducth speaking readers: Humo nr. 10, pp. 142-143) I came across Andrei Tarkovsky, one of the most influential Russian film directors. I only saw one movie of him (see my all eyes list of favorite movies), Ivanovo detstvo or Ivan’s Childhood, his 1962 movie about a 12 year old Russian boy, Ivan, whose parents died at the hands of Germans invading Russia during the Second World War, and who tries to grow up at the eastern front.

Note to myself : watch Offret, where Alexander, a journalist and former actor and philosopher, tells his little son how worried he is about the lack of spirituality of modern mankind, and also Stalker and if I can find them Solyaris and Nostalghia.

Update: Amazon has this movies on sale.
