Snap preview

Posted in Blog, IT by Kurt on January 13, 2007

Thanks to WordPress a new feature is installed on this blog : snap ! Snap Preview Anywhere enables anyone visiting this site to get a glimpse of what other sites I’m linking to. By rolling over any link, the user gets a visual preview of the site without having to go there, thus eliminating wasted “trips” to linked sites. If you don’t like it, hover a link (e.g. snap above), wait till the preview appears, click on ‘options’ and disable it. What do you think of this new feature ?

Update: Images of most sites will already be in the system. If not, Snap will automatically generate a preview image while you hover over the link. Although the process is normally pretty fast, sometimes it can take more than 30 seconds, depending on how many pages are in the queue.

    Hi Kurt,

I’ve actually disabled Snap Preview on my WordPress blog. I figure it’s something that really should be controlled at the user end (ie a browser feature) rather than forcing everyone to use it. It is neat, but because some people might find it irritating, I made the decision to default as off.

BTW I love the name of your site, and its whole ethic. I often find myself sitting at wikipedia and hitting the random page buttom so your approach fits with me :-)

I understand your view on the Snap Preview. That’s why I explain how the user can disable this feature.

Snap preview turned off. Fun at first, but now I find it annoying.
